Melting Pot or Salad Bowl ... the Words Make the Man

OK, so I've seen this quiz floating around on a number of blogs, most recently at Ron Silliman's, and felt obligated to tag along.

I think the results bear out the fact that I was born in Michigan, raised in Ohio and California, schooled in Boston, and then subsequently lived in Memphis, Seattle, Ohio again and now New Orleans. It also bears noting that I have auditioned for, and been accepted by, the Columbia School of Broadcasting in three separate states for being able to produce an absolutely flat "national" accent, although my speech patterns do tend to follow my geographic location to some degree. As another interesting side note, I was in my high school physics class the only student capable of singing a completely straight tone as measured by an oscilliscope --- a feat for which I received, as I recall, much teacher admiration but little if any extra credit.
